Time to respond to offer

Hi Guys,

I've made an offer on a property in the North West a week ago and i am yet to hear anything as to whether this has been accepted or declined. I have contacted the agent twice already to see if there has been a response, and the only response i get is that she has informed the solicitor of our offer and thats it. She has said she has chased solicitor but they're in meetings, and no one else in the team can respond to the offer etc.

Im getting quite frustrated at the moment as i would like a yes or a no, so i can plan next steps (if any). Is there a normal time frame for this, does a week sound too long? Or is the Agent playing games and trrying to see if any new offers a forthcoming that are better than mine.

I must add that the property is on sale due to the owner passing away, there is more than one executor of the will also (which i can imagine will not be straightforward). Do you think the Agent is being plausable, or should i chase her every day for a response?

Also, through a bit of reseach and use of contacts i have managed to find out which firm of solicitors, and the name and conatct details of the exact solicitor who is dealing with the case. Would i be overstepping the mark by conatcting the solicitor directly with my offer, rather than going via the solicitor as i get the gut feeling that the agent may not be playing with a straight bat.

Thanks in advance for any advice

As you say, it will not be straightforward. Multiple executors to consult. Who may feel the need to consult other family members, to ensure no-one can later say "you gave away my inheritance"...disagreements on what to hold out for...etc

Throw in the Easter Holidays on top.

Slow consideration is better than a quick refusal. (hopefully)

    Thanks Cannon Fodder,

I guess i just needed to hear it from someone else, so many if buts and maybes creep in to your head when you dont hear anything at all.

Hopefully you're right and slow consideration is whats going on. Fingers crossed i'll hear something this week.

    Thanks
