I have finally started my salad leaves seeds this afternoon and just wondering how often they will require a little watering?
I have googled and looked in my grow your own magazine but it just says `dont forget to water your seedlings` :D

I planted them in wet soil so i didnt disturb/drown the seeds after sowing.

Thank you.

    You're doing fine!

I grow cut-and-come-again salad crops in big tubs. I drench the compost, scatter the seeds and cover them with a little more dryish compost. If the earth is very dry after I've sown them, then I get a spray bottle full of water and squirt the surface.

Unless your soil is very, very wet then I would water the area where you have got your salad crops either this evening or tomorrow evening. In this good weather, the surface of the soil is getting rather dry this week. They will need a good glug of water to start them off and then leave them until they start shooting through the soil.

The roots want to be wet surrounded by soil, but not drowning in water does that make sense xx

i grow chives in pots dont bother to but them in the ground , i cut what i need and it clumps uo if you dont cut it they get lovely pink flowers on the tops which i believe are edible too Mmmm . i havent grown mizuna on its ownonly as a mixed salad leaf seed grows very reliably and its soo expensive in the shops , lambs lettuce is another one i grow loads of i sow in trays and harvest from the seed tray too .

I am doing all in pots at the moment.
Good to know the mizuna can be mixed i was thinking of doing this too - it sure is expensive and as an extra bonus i got the seeds free!
I have a blank canvas of a garden (moving into a new build) so for now will be doing pots and then finding a spot where i can use ground for veg and maybe a raise area for my addiction :)
