Tax credit help please

Me and OH live together and have an 8 year old.

Started Part Time employment last year, earning last year for me £3500. Partner earned £23000 approx. This gets us £10.50 tax credits per week.

Been offerred a full time job now which is £26400 a year. Will now need childcare (as never before) which should be around £100 per week.

I understand that if there is not £25000 difference between this and last years they base on last years, so does that mean that we will receive TC based on childcare of £100 and last years income? (as I will not be earning more than £25k more than last year). In fact its £22900 more than last year. Partner should earn same as hes earning last year, which is around £23000.

Thanks in advance

Pop your details into entitledto with the childcare costs and it should give you an estimate. Remember its only upto 80% they will pay!

I doubt you will get any help at all with childcare with your income.

With £50K income between you, and one child, I doubt you'll get anything more than your basic family entitlement of the £10.40 per week or whatever it is. I have five kids, though only four taken into account now for age reasons......earnings familywise are less than £50K and we only get the £10.40 per week entitlement. No childcare costs are taken into account - even though their school breakfast club qualifies for the little guys, our income is too high.
  • Well entitled to states we would get £55 a week because of childcare due to 25k disregard.....As earned lot less last year but still within £25k disregard

But you will be getting a renewal pack shortly and will have to give correct details for last years earnings - isn't the disregard for changes 'within that financial year'?
