I believe so (3 kW?-never had them) but I was being conservative, similarly with the storage heater count-probably more than 4 if a 3 bedroomed house.
Storage heater can be obtained in various sizes, with 1.7kW and 3.4kW being two widely available ratings.
So a 3.4kW heater can consume 23.8kWh in 7 hours overnight; but only if switched to maximum input; in practice it will be a very rare occasion if it uses that maximum amouint of electricity.
One of the problems with storage heaters is that you have to a certain extent predict the weather, and your personal heating requirements, for the following day.
For instance if it was in the middle of a cold spell, and you would be home all day, you might well have the input set to maximum during the previous night.
However, at this time of year with you not returning to the house until evening, the input would be set much lower.0 -
Hiya to all below#
Try a1 low carbon solutions which offers grants for people who are on electric heating and want to change to gas - it looks quite good so have a go - you never know! I think there may also be some funding for those who have coal and want to convert to gas - stick it into Google
