Recommend me a BBQ please!

Well, Summer is coming and we don't actually own a BBQ.

We have a budget of approx £100. Can stretch if necessary.......

Just going to sit on our patio during the summer and put in the garage over Winter....... links, makes and advice appreciated please!

Sam :)

Do you want gas or traditional? To be honest I think a traditional is head and shoulders above the rest. £100 would be a respectable budget for a traditional with multiple levels, storage and enough cooking space for a group.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!

yes and No :D if you have the time , messing with the charcoal is great . but time is the factor.
If I having friends round , no problems, itsa planned event.
But for the two of us , spur of the moment , gas is king .

Looking back to the last two rotten summers , the gas BBQ got a lot more use than the weber ( charcoal)

Still no recommendations from me ... yet!

How many do you want to cook for?
Plain rack or do you want a griddle.
Do you bother with the side burner ( I think its for a hot sauce ??? )

Closed lid , do you want to attempt an oven experience??

OK, so it will hopefully be cooking for parties of approx 10 but also fine for just the 2 of us!

I assume plain rack, not sure on the benefits of the griddle and don't know about the side burner, possibly could be useful with onions etc...... hot sauce?!?! LOL!

By closed lid you mean close it to cook? Unsure if the benefit will be noticeable!

Sorry for my uselessness in this field!

Only suggested a griddle , as my wife likes her fish ( cooked in tin foil)
easier to turn over on a griddle, also burgers less likely to fall apart.

I also bought one which the top plates could go into the dishwasher to clean .

Lid often doubles up as an area for a wire shelf to keep things warm , nice if catering for the masses.

Ps never did understand about the side burner. :D

As you are :) going to clean and put away , after the summer!

Don't pay a fortune for your BBQ , they are all the same. only the cheap ones rust faster.

Now pick up your Argos catalogue , go to BQ etc and compare models.

Remember you have to normally add the cost of the gas bottle , which for the first time very expensive. Sometimes also the reg valve.

Finally pray for a BBQ summer:rotfl:

    We have this one

Although this is obviously more than your budget I would recommend them as a make and also this type. You can get own brand styles very similar for quite a bit less. I agree that charcoal does taste better but gas is just more practical. We use ours most evenings from about now until septemeber even though we don't eat outside. As for the side burner the only thing we found it beneficial for on our last bbq was new potatoes, saves boiling them up in the kitchen and nipping back to check on them.

Yep really good deal. It is the same as ours but 1 burner less. We're really pleased with ours and haven't had any problems with it.
