Elliot Morley, Jim Devine and David Chaytor have been granted Legal Aid for court case .......
Yet another kick in the goolies for the tax payers of this country.I know people who are on low incomes and even out of work and can't get Legal Aid.......
My personal view is that I just hope more and more of the general public DO vote ,but vote for the smaller parties and not the big 3..... We need to protest ,so its either that or we ALL spoil the ballot papers.
These 3 and many others like them are certainly not "Right or Honourable".

Know a couple of people who have been turned down for legal aid, for things which would have enabled them to have changed their lives for the better.
Those people simply could not afford to go through the legal system any other way, so are stuck having to live with the issues.
It's annoying that these MP's could afford their own fee's, but get more from us. But that's life I guess.0 -
It's frankly astonishing."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
LOL, actually, had to post this, as I heard it earlier. Part of labours campaign today...
Funny old world. Just 2 hours ago, labour saying they will reduce legal aid to reduce the defecit....then labour MP's gain legal aid to try and protect themselves for what the rest of us would class as theft, and be reprimanded for.Speaking earlier today on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Ed Milliband, the author of the manifesto, said that government spending on regeneration was a "lower priority", similar to spending on areas such as legal aid, and would be reduced as part of Labour’s commitment to cut public spending and narrow the deficit.
Take from the tax payer, then take from the tax payer for the court case for taking from the tax payer

Why even bother having a trial, they're going to get off scot-free anyway - may as well have just given them a slap on the wrist and a pat on the head and saved the taxpayer some cash.
The enquiry itself has ALREADY cost the police more than £500,000! Now they get legal aid as well, you couldn't make it up.0 -
There is a big difference in the qualifying criteria for criminal legal aid (which these have applied for & been awarded) & the rest of the legal aid system which deals with matters such as divorce, immigration, housing, debt & so much else.
More info is here http://www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I'm sure that between this farce and the setting up of yet another Quango to monitor expenses that NuLab have already managed to spend all of the money they've claimed back from MPs and then some!0

So, crime does pay after all.0
-
It certainly does - for all the policemen, lawyers and pen-pushers employed by the taxpayer to make the case against these clowns! I wonder what other creative ways they can come up with between them to cost the taxpayer money?0

It's a testament to how morally bankrupt our politicians and the whole justice system has become. They have no moral integrity whatsoever. It's all about money nowadays. Money and power.0 -
They are entitled to a fair trial, like any other [STRIKE]criminals[/STRIKE] citizens. Part of that is getting legal aid, if you are in the crown court.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
