i have got this and it is set for weekly scans but most days i do a quick scan just cos i want to, anyway nothing ever shows up, it runs the scan, finishes it, and when i look in the history there is never anything there!! nothing to say anything has been quarantined or deleted or anything.
surely it cant be that good that my pc never gets 'anything'
should i be using something else as well??
my pc is slow but that's nothing unusual

If it has found nothing then it has genuinley found nothing. Now it might be that:
a) There is genuinley nothing on your machine
b) There is nothing on your machine that MSE can detect.
In general if you don't use your computer a lot, only browse the odd site, send/receive the odd email and maybe work on it (office applications) then the chances are you are virus free.
The more "dodgy" activities you get upto on a computer the higher chance of anything going wrong with it. Also if you aren't particularly careful in what email you open or what link you click you are more likely to get hit. Chances are on most well known bad things that MSE will detect it and block it anyway.
I would also recomend using something like MalwareBytes as an anti-malware program or super antimalware. One or the other should do. This is a seperate scanner that focuses more on spy/malware than viruses specfically.0 -

Any good AV should leave you never/virtually never getting viruses.
yes, windows built in firewall; automatically apply important security patches.hostertlady wrote: »should i be using something else as well??
*shrug* depends how much crap you have on it.hostertlady wrote: »my pc is slow but that's nothing unusual0 -
There's two essentials I use which clears out all sorts of crap, which MSE wouldn't need to pick up, and speeds up a pc:
SuperantiSpyware http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html
and CCleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/0
