Hi,
My dad wants to buy a laptop but neither him or myself know anything about them so was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Basically need something to use at home that is fairly simple to use. Mostly for internet and occasionally typing out letters and that kind of thing. Preferably something that isn't too expensive !
Thanks in advance,
Matt

If you're only going to use it at home (in one room?) then why not get a desktop machine?
Do you have a PC with an internet connection already? If so, do you connect through a router, or direct from the current PC?
If you don't have a router at the moment, you need to get a laptop with a built-in modem so that you can plug it straight into phone line.0 -
When we bought our laptop the spec for desktops and laptops were pretty similar so we went for the laptop as it's nice to have something that's easily put away when not in use.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Hi,
Thanks for all the information. I've had a look at the argos clearance store and spotted a few on there that I like the look of.
The reason we want a laptop rather than a desktop is because of space really. It's just nice and easy to store it away after we've used it.
We don't have a pc at the moment so I'll need to sort out the connection when I get the laptop.
