I don't want to go into too many details but that's never going to happen, step niece had to come and live with them because of problems with her mum and social services are involved. I've got more chance of winning the lottery than BIL getting child support from his ex :o

Why can't social services help them with food parcels?

well apart from the fact it's mainly clothing for the older child and milk and nappies for their baby that is costing them an arm and a leg, don't get me started on the incompetence of SS.

It's been a case of "dump and run" absolutely NO support at all despite sis making many many phonecalls to the social worker .

thanks I'll suggest it to them, actually that might be a really really good idea as they are changing the uniform for when they go back to school after the summer hols.

Well then they might be even more understanding of your situation - and know that any sales of second hand uniform will be very limited from now on. Are they becoming an academy in September? If so, when they change the uniform, they must provide one full uniform to every student who was already registered at the school - so come September, she will (or should!) get a free uniform provided by the new academy.

One fella handcuffed himself to railings inside the local jobcentre, they soon sorted his problems out... He had been messed around for ages apparently, but that action caused them to act, fast... It made the local paper.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Is there any chance of getting a budgeting/crisis loan or uniform grant?
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.

no uniform grants where they live, so they might have to apply for a crisis loan which they wanted to avoid if they could.

You can't have a crisis loan for school uniform - its specifically excluded.

And even if it wasn't the absence of a school uniform hardly presents a serious and immediate risk to the health and safety of the individuals now does it?

the crisis loan wouldn't specifically be for her uniform. She's been with them for almost a month now and the baby is almost 7 weeks old....they haven't had a penny for either of them. They have managed to borrow money from friends and family plus stretch out what they receive for their other children but it's getting to the point now where they have no one else to borrow from and have to start repaying those they have lent money from. It's making ends meet very difficult, they had less than 48 hours notice that she would be coming to live with them so it's not like it was planned.

The uniform was just an example of why they need some money for the 2 extra children asap.
