unfair bt penalty ?

H i i contacted bt 6 weeks ago asking about the penalty if i came out of there deal on unlimited weekend /evening phone call and line rental deal i was told the contract was up in sept and would cost approx £48 to leave.
It was only recently i realised that bt were changing the times i could make free phone calls from 6pm to 7pm.I contacted them to day stating i would now want to leave without penalty as they had changed the conditions of the contract.I was told they had informed me either by email or on the itimized bill earlier in the year and the cut off time for leaving without penalty was the 1st april i protested stating while did they not state this when i contacted them 6 weeks ago ? they state because i never mentioned the reason i wanted to leave was due to them changing the times i could make free calls.I have no email from them and there is nothing on the itemized bill stating any changes ,what can i do ?

Ring them again saying you have checked your e-mail and bills and there is nothing stating any changes or the 1st April date etc. Ask them to show you proof of where they told you these facts.

They wanted to charge me once for leaving them even though I was moving house and I was planning to get a new line with them but I would had to have a month or two break because the house we were moving to wasn't ready. I told them I had looked on their web site and couldn't find anything about a fee for leaving under my circumstances - I told them to send me a link. They couldn't. They said they would look into it. I got a phonecall 15mins later saying they wouldn't charge me the fee.
