netbook and scanner??

Hi all,

I am a complete technophobe although I do dabble in a bit of it from time to time!!

I am using a netbook as a PC as my laptop keeps turning itself off- dunno if it's because I have run out of memory or what, but anyway, my all- in- one scanner/ printer/ copier was installed to my crashing laptop, and now I'd like to use it with my netbook. The question is, (as I do not have a CD-Rom drive on the netbook), is it possible to use the scanner with the netbook without having to install the scanner? It might seem like an odd question, but like I said, I am a technophobe!

I got the netbook as a temporary thing before I decide what to get next (if at all.. trying to save $$) but I'd like to use my scanner again as it's just sat here collecting dust!

Many thanks and any suggestions please throw them this way.

You could copy the contents of the printer installation CD onto a USB flash memory, then use that for the install onto the netbook.

Or you can in most cases download the scanner & printer software and drivers from the manufacturer's website.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Or you can share the CD drive on the laptop if it stays up for long enough and install from CD over your network.

Or the drivers might be preloaded for use or it will use generic drivers.

Or just download the drivers from the manufacturers website on the machine it is to be used on.
