Yes I think it is so that some authorities give it away free at recycling plants. I'm not sure how sterile and what sort of quality it would be as I understand it is made from garden waste which could include weeds and fungi etc? I wonder if it could be contaminated in any way?what gets me is here we are all paying for stuff that in scotland is given away free at household waste recycling centres!0 -
we bought a bag in Canterbury & it's horrible, bits of small chewed up plastic and long fibrous stuff in it. Got some similar last year (from I think B&Q) and all the 1 year old plants I potted on in it died within days, patio roses etc.
My husband has picked out the worst lumps and distributed the rest round the garden, it would be useless for seeds or potting on.0 -
Mine had a few fibrous bits in it but I didn't think it was too bad. I'll be cheesed off if none of my seeds germinate.0
