Hi,
My boyfriend and i are planning to do a car boot at the end of the month to start to make some money for a deposit on a house. However, some people have told us it's better to ebay stuff. I do already use ebay a lot and i do sell things on there that i no people want but how do you know what to car boot and what to ebay. Are things likely to make more money on ebay?
Thanks
Alex

The likelyhood of you doing a car boot is that you have larger items, and these will sell better at car boot IMO due to high postage costs on eBay.
So, whilst your there, take everything else and have a go at car booting. And everything that is left, shove on eBay on a cheap listing day ... whenever that may be!

it depends what you have to sell, if you both have any collectables then do some research, it will pay off. For example say you take some sports cards of your b/f's you get them and and a collector in disguise will say £10 for the box. you say ok and think youve made a good sale. you go home and check them out randomly on the net and found youve got loads more than a tenners worth. something to think about...Like what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:

As highguyuk mentioned, a lot is to do with postage costs. Some items (e.g. common books, most heavyish clothes such as jeans, videos unless they're rare deleted titles) are practically impossible to sell on eBay because they cost more to post than they're worth, but they can sell at boot sales. Other items, mostly "collectables", vintage and specialist items, as well as some current CDs and stuff, are likely to make more money on eBay. Try looking at the completed listings for items similar to yours, for a rough guide to eBay prices. There are also a few old threads on this forum about what sort of things sell at boot sales and on eBay.0
