Help - power steering/ brakes problem
on Saturday i had my front brake discs and pads replaced at my local quick fit, then whilst driving the car back home, less than a mile from the garage my power steering failed!
could this be connected to the work they did on my brakes, or is it just an unfortunate coincidence??
naturally the garage have said its not related (without having looked at the car again yet), but as both systems are front wheel related it seems perfectly possible to me that there could be a link. having said that i know very little about cars, so would really appreciate some advice?
thanks

There is no connection between the front brakes and the power steering. None.0

Some older cars used to use the power steering pump to assist the power brakes, not entirely sure when it was phased out though.0

What car is it?0

Seems unlikely to be a coincidence, but getting the garage to admit they did something wrong is another story. Maybe they and you were just unlucky just because they disturbed something on this apparently highly-strung problem-ridden model while they were working on it ...
.... Google yields a number of reports of steering (and other) problems for 2001 Fabias e.g. http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/skoda/fabia/r66352/comments/page-2/0 -
You have electric pumped power steering on this car, and there are sensors in the wheel arch area, so it is possible these have been caught or disturbed. If you don't know what you are looking for, I don't know if I'd trust Kwik Fit to look though.
Check the fuses as well, it's posible one has blown.0 -
Thanks for your input everyone, as expected quick fit do not know what is causing the problem, and yet are 100% sure its not their fault.
Will try some of the things suggested here and on http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/sko...mments/page-2/
If they don't sort it out then I’ll have to (carefully) drive to a proper garage/dealership I guess.:(
