I'm trying to understand what your question is concerning?

Are you trying to get an internet connection with software used by the phones?
    Suggestions you can try.....
    • Nokia Connection Manager (Mobile) - or any vendor specific software
    • PAYG Mobile Broadband (Remote Access)
    • Software from your ISP (Landlines) (if dial-up or AOL), don't need with BB.

Are you looking for messaging software you can use over the media?
    Suggestions you can try.....
    • Skype (Change file prefs usually by tools - options or edit - prefs)
    • MSN Messenger (Use your Windows Live Account)
    • Trillian (Supports multiple accounts) - although it's deemed as "unsafe"
I'm sorry I can't be more specific, I'm trying to interpret what your question was asking, if you could be more specific I'll reply back with further advice.

As LiL suggests for messaging software, although Skype should not have changed your file types?

I use the latest version of Skype on my netbook which is a Samsung NC10 running XP and have had no problems.

To my knowledge, there will be others however. Skype and Windows Live are the only ones I know capable of doing it (or rather the most popular ones)

They're both free, in MSN I think it's under the Tools Menu and there is an option called "call", under skype there is a button

I don't have MSN installed at the moment so can't say it fully but a quick googling should help you out (how to make a call with MSN) < something like that.
