Hi
First of all it depends on which jsa you are claiming for, i will assume income based.
Is this the first time you are signing on since your initial interview with them where they told you what you are entitled to and what they expect from you.
If it is the first time of actual signing on as, by the sounds of it, you have your 'book', you will also have been given a little form to fill in asking what jobs you have been looking for, this is what they will be interested in.
Ok, the first thing to do is present yourself to the front desk and tell them you are signing on for the first time and give them the 'book' they will ask you to wait until you are called.
This may be a good chance to check any jobs available on their computer thingy.
When you are called they will want to know what you have been doing to look for work since they last saw you. You will have to show what you did each and every day, this is where they check the form as you are supposed to write in there what you did. It is a good idea to bring with you evidence to support, such as the advert or a print out of it, your cv, a copy of the letter sent etc. Never say you haven't done anything on any day as this will get you into trouble, if you haven't they may cut you some slack as this is your first time but they can be funny about it as you muct be actively seeking work on each day you are claiming jsa for. You will have discussed this in your initial interview, things like looking in newspapers, jobs online, agencies, friends family...etc.
Once you have satisfied them you have been actively seeking work since they last saw you you will sign.
That's pretty much it, you will get your money if it is paid into your bank within the next 3 days.
If you haven't been to the initial interview, they will just run through probably what you told them over the phone about your circumstances and what you havet and intend to do to look for work.
Sorry can't say much more as have to go but good luck.0 -
