Call Divert & 18866 Help

My calls are automaticaly diverted from my landline to my mobile, for which I pay the cost of the diverted mobile call. This is a BT service and I simply dial a code and the 'divert to' number to activate the service. Anyone know a way of using 18866 or 1899 to get my costs down. BT wont allow the use of 18866 as a divert number and any other code requires a pause in the dialing.

No can do.... I'm in the same position. Look through the comparisons and pick a provider who does low calls to your mobile network and enable if through CPS. Also, in the meantime, call (or login to) BT and make your own mobile your 'best friend'
My CPS is 1-tel, and by making my mobile my best friend, it works out at about the same as 18866 to voodoofone.

Not only can you not program a 'pause' in the BT divert service you also cannot program enough digits - you would need to program 22 digits plus two 'pauses'.
I would have a look at the new OneTel landline service where they take over your BT line completely so you pay OneTel line rental.
If you then also get a OneTel mobile you can link the two phone numbers and calls between them are free (both directions).
However, you will have to check with OneTel to see if calls are free when diverted from landline to mobile.0 -

Grandgrind, please clarify as I am in the same situation too.
Are you saying that if one tel is your main telco company you can use call divert and the diverts are billed by one tel and not BT?
As Paul told me in a previous post calls between one tel landlines and your own one tel mobile are free, so I rang onetel about this and every time got a different answer but one tel said that call diverts are charged by BT.
If this is the case why don`t you get a one tel mobile?
Thanks for any helpOn the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -

If you choose OneTel for your landline provider then be aware that according to their t&c (paragraph 3.4) they can block access to any access code or charge you a higher fee, see: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=39444.
Therefore, if you use another provider (like Call18866) when you are at home, then they may block access to these other providers' access codes.0 -
I phoned one tel today and spoke to a manager who said that if the line rental was with onetel the diverted call to my own one tel mobile would be free. I asked him to confirm this by email and he replied" sorry sir , we don`t have that facility". I asked him to confirm by letter and got the same reply. My email to them has not yet been answerd.
What type of company is this?
I explained my telephone costs per year are over £1,000 and if he sent a letter I would sign up. He remained emotionless and continued reading the next paragraph of his script ,probably unaware what a thousand pounds was.
I spend £60 a month in call diverts alone but will not be changing to onetel if that the way they do business. Im not signing up to find out on my first bill that he was wrong( imagine the grief sorting that one out) and the idea of having my 18866 barred is not good.
For now Im with BT and as mentioned before
1, mobile as best mate
2, pay extra £1.50 a month for discount on all mobile calls.
3, Use a Cellnet mobile as these are normally ( not always) cheaper to divert to.( have a look at prices to see which is best for you )On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -

I think when I told you that, I did not know about One-Tel offering a line rental service.0 -

Did you get his name? If so, why not get a contract and sign it with the proviso that diverted calls to a One-Tel mobile are free - adding his name as the source of the information! And don't forget to keep a copy of the contract.
That way you will soon find out if what the manager said is correct!
But remember, you have to actually link the One-Tel landline account to the One-Tel mobile - you can do this on-line.0 -
Hi,
Im thinking about signing the contract but not brave(or stupid) enough. I`d have to get a onetel mobile, cancell BT etc etc and if it all went pair shaped I couldn`t do with the hassle. If the company `don`t have the facility` to send emails or letter I hate to think what the complaints procedure is like.
I think MSE Martin should set it up and see how it goes ;o) . He would make a great guinea pig ( take that as a compliment if your reading this) .
Thanks again for all the help.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
