7 days to countersign???

Hello,

Just a little rant!

I needed my doctor to countersign my daughters passport, I was told on the phone that the nurse who I have seen a lot more than the doctor, twice, wouldn't be able to countersign, I assumed that a nurse was a proffession!??. Fine, I was told bring in the form leave it for a few days then come and get it. Right, I got there handed the form in, "Oh, it's normally 7 days". What? how slowly does the doctor write? I know he must have better things to do but a few minutes of his time to fill it in plus to actually look at my daughter so he can vouch that it is her would be less trouble surely.

You don't have to write an essay! I know he doesn't have an obligation to do it but when they charge you ten pounds for a quick signature and maybe a phone call from the passport office to make sure, I would expect it to be a bit more efficient! It is a pain trying to find someone to sign it in the first place, we don't have a lawyer and we don't know anyone else in the other proffessions mentioned.

I know it's a bit whingy but surely a few minutes to sign something isn't asking to much is it????

I have to agree . It took my Doctor almost 2 weeks complete a form for my travel insurance claim and cost £22.I can only think that it is at the bottom of their priority list which is fair enough, but it can be frustrating when you are waiting for it.

do you know any other professionals? A teacher, solicitor, accountant, perhaps? I am a teacher and I regularly sign applications for friends and neighbours... just a thought!

Just remember that they do not have any obligation to sign your form and that they are usually pretty damn busy doing other things - like helping sick people.

7 days is the policy, just accept it. They've probably devised this policy from experience to balance the needs of all patients.

I also wrote that, no I don't know anyone else who's able to do it. We have a family member who is a lawyer, no family members allowed to sign. My old school has been knocked down so I couldn't get any teachers to sign it unless there still in there! No, I don't work my OH does full time but as I have full parental responsibility and I've signed the form on my daughters behalf he can't get anyone to sign it either as they have to have known ME for over 2 years.
  • What about someone at work? My boss has signed mine & my daughters previously without a problem.

It does seem a bit of a wait. However, unless you're going on holiday very soon, I don't see the big problem. I would never book a holiday without checking my passport is in order owing to possible delays etc.

  • It's not a major problem and I know it sounds a bit over exaggerated but still, I wanted to get it sent off ASAP. Really excited about going in October and can't book untill we get it back. It's just that we won't get it back until around September time and I'm worried that we won't get the deal we want. I know theres plenty of holidays out there but I've done hours of research and all the best places get booked up!!

I know they've got better things to do it just seems a little silly to wait so long for a signature and an address. The more I think of it the more it get's on my wick. Someone, please be as annoyed as me, forgetting the better things to do topic!!!:o
