How do I remove a partition on a system file?
The partition has nothing on it & I want to 'reclaim it'.
I have been through the disk management section but it won't let me remove/reallocate it back.
Thanx in advance

Windows wont allow you to merge partitions. it can be very risky to do and can end up in data loss so back up anything you dont want to loose.
there are loads of apps out there that will merge partitions Ive use partition magic in the past with sucess.
good luck with it.0 -

as for reclaiming it why dont you just format and use it as a 2nd drive?
The hard drive has Win XP loaded on to it but a quarter of it is partitioned - with nothing on it, I was wondering if I could 'put it back' as it were.
I already have a clean second drive installed.0 -
Do you mean a system partition, i.e. shown as 'System' in Disk Management? And Windows is not installed on this partition? Maybe http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=245799 describes your situation. There is a free option, GParted. It's a Linux based partitioner, but you can download an ISO to make a live CD. Boot from it and you can manage Windows partitions in a very similar way to Partition Magic.Joe Cassels0
