Unloading on double yellow lines

I'm moving into a new flat in a few weeks. The flat does have a small car park behind it, but the access drive isn't wide enough to get the luton van I'm hiring down it. The only other place to park is on the road that the flat is on, but it has double yellow lines all the way down it. Will I get into trouble for parking the van there while unloading? There is plenty of room for traffic to get round the van while it's parked there and it won't obstruct anything and I'll be moving in on a Sunday so it won't be very busy. My dad suggested calling the police to ask them about it, but I'd feel a bit daft asking them!

Check for any accompanying signs such as " No loading at any time" etc, also yellow kerb stripes.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

If there are no marks on the kerb then you can unload fine (but cannot leave it locked unattended) i.e parked. If there is 1 dash on the kerb you cannot load during certain times so check signs. If there are 2 dashes it cannot be done at all!0 -
From the highway code:
So unless there are vertical kerb stripes and accompanying signage, you're OK to load and unload.
However, given previous stories on this forum, you must make it obvious to a warden that said loading and unloading is continuous. They don't need much observation time to see no-one is busy and have been known to slap on tickets rather early. You can't spend time standing still inside the property, nor can you make a brew or generally faff around with the van unattended. It may be wise to have a spare person standing permanently at the vehicle to explain the loading situation to any passing warden.0 -
Thanks for your help guys, picking the keys up this week so will have a nosey round for any signs or kerb stripes!0

You can get special exemption for moving....contact police or local council as necessary.0
