We have recently bought a house and it has a prepayment meter for both gas and electricity, we have contacted the supplier to get it removed but they have said that we have to keep it for a year! is this right? Any help would be appreciated.

its dependant on the suppliers t&c 's , but a lot of suppliers do this to protect from loss0

We are first time house buyers and obviously have had no previous account. We have just inherited the pre pay meter from the previous householder and are willing to stay with the current supplier we would just like to get rid of the pre pay meter and change to a credit meter.0

Ring them up and tell them you want a credit meter otherwise will have to look at changing suppliers, ask to speak to a supervisor to!0

Which supplier are you with Miyagi? With some suppliers, it will be a real battle to get a prepayment meter fitted. Others might be more co-operative.
Good luck anyway!0
