Homebuyers Reoprt - Chimney Issues

We are in the process of buying a house and the homebuyers report has advised that there are a number of issues with the chimney. It said that the chimney stack needed repointing, that the flaunching needed replacing and that the chimney pot needed covering.

Please can anyone advise a ballpark figure of how much this may cost? Are we talking hundereds or thousands as I have no idea.

The house is a typical 1930's semi with the stack in the middle middle of the roof shared with the neighbouring house.

Also who do you approach for this type of work, roofers? builders or are they chimney experts? We are in the Leeds area if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks

Roofers usually would do this. its not that much work, a couple of hours repointing, chimney pot fitting is easy just depends what sort of cover you need (are you going to use the chimney?) The flaunching is the mortar that holds the pot in place, so easy to replace at the same time. The only time this would become expensive is if you need to hire scafolding to get to the chimney.

We had similar text in our survey. We got a builder around to quote for the work and just pulling out his email it said:
    Re-point chimney and re-haunch pots. Re-fix flashing. £565.

We are within the M25 so that probably affects the cost.
