I would like to understand how the government plan to tackle the issue that leaseholders face in relation to the management/service charge fees on leasehold flats/properties. It seems that at the moment they can do and charge whatevery they like and it is virtually impossible to challenge this. I own a leasehold flat and get absolutely walked over and service charge costs are going through the roof without a care in the world for the people who are paying for them! Our servcie charge has increased in excess of 60% in 4 years - my salary certainly hasnt gone up that much! :mad:0

I want all student loans to be banished! I got to pay £15k approx. I remember when I was younger people used to get grants to study at uni now the tables have turned and we're paying to study...which is right in one way but the fees are really high!
I say cancel student loans bring back grants and help people in education to support the country in the future!0 -
Why are pensioners not treated the same if over 60
TV licence should be free to all
All should have a pension to the amount as if working
Free care for all elderly so no home losses for payment
Electric and Gas should be low cost for over 60s so they can keep warm summer and winter
VAT should go back down
Supermarkets tend to add prices every week not by 1p but 10p and over0 -
why public opinion was completely ignored in favour of false information given by the entertainment industry and rules written by them, to make the Digital Economy Bill law? why so few MPs bothered to debate so serious an issue and ultimately failed to vote? what do they intend doing now that personal privacy can be invaded by the entertainment industry when they feel like it (to monitor internet activity), which is more than any country's security services can legally do? what will they do when a person/family have to prove their innocence rather than the accuser have to prove guilt? Big Brother eat your heart out!!!0

Can *anyone* provide an explanation of why petrol prices have gone up so hugely over the last few months? One supposed explanation is that the pound sterling has gone down, but the dollar or euro exchange rate has been much lower and the oil price per barrel insanely higher through 2008-09, and prices were no higher than now. If anything sterling has strengthened over the last six months, yet petrol prices just keep climbing.0 -
I couldn't agree more. What really bugs me however is that people who have saved hard for their retirement are penalised for being frugal.
All through my working life I have led a fairly consevative lifestyle whist I watched some of my work collegues spend their money as fast as they got it, (pub most nights, exotic holidays, new cars etc. etc.). I've no issue with that, in fact I sometimes now wish I had been like that, it's up to people to lead their lives as they see fit.
I now find however that I'm not entitled to any age related tax allowances because I am over the threshold for these due to my savings, whilst those who chose not to save get full age related allowances.
I feel that I am now, in a way, supporting these people through the extra tax that I am paying over and above them.
Hardly an incentive for people to save and quite unfair in my opinion.0 -
How does "Fractional Reserve Banking" work and what are the advantages to the people of the United Kingdom?0

I notice a few of em have been talking about fair taxation, what about having a complete re-think of the council tax system if they want to get rid of un-fair taxes.0

Martin, thanks I cant find the start a new thread so could you please help and move mine,
Isnt it about time they brought our pensions in line with our european brother/sisters, they say it would be too difficult due to interest rates, but if they can manage the bankin g for those with world interest bank rates, they can do our pensions, especially as they already do rates for our uk folk living abroad, thank you, regards clearvisor0 -
Will there be any justice for those women who have paid more than 30 year's full N.I contributions but do not qualify for a full state pension because they are short of 39 years due to family commitments during the early 1970's which they were never allowed to reinstate. I fall into this category and feel most unfairly treated compared to my 'sisters' aged only a few years younger. As things stand I will never be on a level footing with them and may well have to continue on benefits to supplement my income.
