Hi,
Me and my girlfriend are moving into a flat in Portsmouth for the first time on Wednesday (having both lived with parents or a university shared house in the past).
Presuming we don't have to go with specified water, electric or gas companies, does anyone have any recommendations as to which company/service is the cheapest at the moment in the Portsmouth area?
Any recommendations for specific companies, or rough guides on how much you think we should be paying (fairly large 1 bedroom basement flat, 2 people) on bills would be appreciated.
Cheers.

you won't get any choice about water company
is there gas or is it all electric? If there is gas what's it used for? heating? cooking?
Are they prepayment meters or credit meters?
Is it well insulated/double glazed etc?
Will you both be out during the day or for extended periods of time or will you be heating it all the time?
For best guess, when you move in, ask the the neighbours in a similar flat how much they use?Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
It has gas boiler and gas hob, electric cooker and everything else.
No pre-payment/credit meters.
Double glased, in a basement (underground).
Will be out during the day.
I'm not so concerned about how much it will cost, but would prefer to go with the cheapest company. Does anyone have any recommendations on a cheap gas and electricity company in Portsmouth?0
