Housing market moving or not?

We live in the North West and want to move, the houses around us have been up a while but 1 or 2 have sold. Our house will be around the 180K mark, my question is is the housing market dead or not? When I tell people we are thinking of moving I am put off with them telling me that houses aren't selling. The reason for us moving is mainly because we can only get half a meg internet connection because we are so far from the exchange! Some people move to be nearer good schools, we want to move to be nearer the telephone exchange!:rotfl:
