Hi all,
My brother will soon take delivery of a Mac Book Pro. I know a little about windows based PC's but he really doesn't know very much.
Now seeing as I will probably be his 'technical support' I have been doing some web searches on switching from PC to Mac just to get a heads up. I think a beginners guide to macs OSX would be a good investment, I have looked on Amazon but none really stick out.
Any recommendations??
Thanks for any help. Si

Shouldn't be any need - they're far more straightforward and intuitive than windows based PCs. The less experience either of you has of windows the better!I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
Apple Macs rule OK. They're a doddle.0

Thanks for your replies and misplaced confidence in my computer skills!!
I was really looking for a good book that I could refer to, maybe a dummies guide will do it.
Cheers Si0 -

The reality is that they are anything but intuitive, they're a pain in the **** and seem to like being different just for the sake of being different...... frustrating as **** is what they are.
A couple of weeks ago was the pinnacle - tried to do something which going through the menus looked like it should be straightforward - but did not work , was sure it must be done the way I was trying, tried about 7 times no joy..
Ah well have to go off to the help pages, which I loathe on the mac... no really loathe, found the help page and it told me to do exactly what I'd just done 7 times over and surprisingly got the same result - it didn't work.
Buy him a large pack of headache tablets ..he may be needing themHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -
Oh yes forgot to say - so having to go to the help pages hardly intuitive is it.
I don't get why these myths about macs being oh soooo much easier/more intuitive/quicker persist and are perpetuated.Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Can we expect more of these ancient Apple threads to appear again?0

Hi whatever you want to know about the Mac you will find on YouTube just type in search as an example how to use Iphoto and you will find loads of tutorials, also Apple have 100s of tutorials. Enjoy the MacLow Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs
Since first using Martins I have saved thousands0 -
Agree with Viv0147, also look at lynda.com it is paid for but loads of tutorials. Also Apple have training at stores, fab deal you can have one hour per week one to one for a yearly fee of about £80 (that was last time I checked) must be cheapest training around unless you can find free.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
