Every so often during playback of recorded programme, the sound will miss just for perhaps a second. The picture is unaffected. Its not a big deal at present, just annoying, but I'm worried it might mean there is a problem brewing. I'm out of the 1st year guarantee & dont have Sky insurance so would have to pay if it got worse. Any suggestions?

well i would do what most would do, if it goes phone up sky and tell them you will bin your contract with them when and if it does after all is the credit crunch and sky have been losing like everyone else also there lots of people ive seen here that have done exactly that.
as to the sound i take it only happens on the recordings if so i take it could be the hard drive on the way out.

I get similar problems when disk is fairly full or with lots of recordings and deletions causing data to be fragmented on the disk. The cure for me is to do a full reset, clearing all programmes saved on disk:-

Press “SERVICES” on your Sky Plus Remote - Select Option 4
Next press 0, 1 and SELECT – you should now see the engineer’s menu.
Choose option 8, ‘Full System Reset’. The box will now take a few minutes to reset itself.

    Cheers from Mike

I thought it might involve clearing the hard disk. I'll have to try & watch everything then do it. ta
