Hey all
I was a bought a digital photo frame for my birthday last month and need to get a USB stick to put photos on to it. There is little information in the instructions.
What size should I get?
Any recommendations for where to buy one? I looked on Ebay but most seem to be from Far East, and some have lots of negatives!
TIA

You can get it from Amazon.
Size depends on your usage 4GB will be good I think.0 -
You can buy a USB (stick) flash drive pretty much anywhere from Tesco's to Curry's, anything from a gig upwards should be ample for the photo frame. A good little tip is to fprmat the USB drive before using it, as sometimes they dont work right away until formatted.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Sandisk are a dependable brand. The U3 series are slow, but the standard Sandisk Cruzer Micros are relatively fast. Corsair are a dependable brand, with rugged designs. Patriot are a good brand - the Patriot XT I have is easily the fastest I've used. Lexar do the job, but are nothing special.
You tend to get what you pay for with USB sticks. Lower grade memory units go to the cheaper brands.
In terms of best size - obviously it'll depend on your usage, but probably even 1GB will be enough. You can get 8gb sometimes for less than £10, but will pay for it with a slower speed (e.g. the Sandisk U3 Cruzer). What is the size of your photo collection?
Amazon is fine for buying, and is the only place in the UK that I've bought USB sticks from.
Scams are prevalent on ebay. I'd be wary of buying anything from overseas on ebay, particularly no-name brands, as they will almost certainly be:
1. from stock that should have been destroyed (not even good enough for the cheap brands) and/or
2. 'hacked' to look like a larger size than it really is (you can tell, because anything copied above the 'real' physical size will be corrupt and will copy more quickly because its empty files)
Scammers will sell from the UK as well, so 'UK only' is no guarantee, and neither is a perfect feedback score as people tend to give positive feedback before they realise they've been had, so contribute to fooling other people.0 -
