British Gas dual fuel tariffs query

I'm with BG for duel fuel and I was on the price guarantee thing which ended at the end of last year whereupon they switched me over to a locked in tariff till the end of March 2011. I don't remember getting an e-mail from them. I'm not moaning about being switched to another tariff because it's my own fault for not being a bit more savvy with regards to utility bills (they confuse the life out of me!!)

Anyway, at the end of last year I had a new boiler installed and on my last bill (online, I've opted for paperless billing) it gave a comparison for fuel used. It was massively down on same period last year but the bill was massively up. I've had a look at the tariffs and feel that Websaver 7 may be the way to go - can anyone tell me if I choose to transfer to this for my gas and electriciy will they 'fine' me 2 x £35 (or whatever it is) for doing so?

Any advice much appreciated because as I say it all confuses me no end.

In theory, yes you are liable to be charged.

However several people have reported that this charge is waived(if you ask) if you move to another BG tariff. Seems they have some discretion on this matter.
