Focus for DIY are doing a new home owner discount card. They offer a 10% discount for 6 months on all purchases in there stores, for anyone who has moved into a new home.

How cool is that? I've found this extremely helpful!

They've been doing this for years - it's nothing new

I have had 3 in recent years. Everytime we've bought a buy to let we have applied for one plus we got one when we moved.

One comment I will make is that they are one of the more expensive DIY stores on some things. B and Q are often cheaper and do 10% discount for pensioners on one day of the week (as do Focus).

Also, depending on what you're buying the builders merchants are sometimes very good vfm. None of the DIY stores can touch what Travis Perkins have quoted me for paint recently. They would price mach but they don't sell the same sized pots.
