The big cost in the work is the labour, so are you going to do it yourselves? If not, expect to pay at least £2k for tradesmen to do the work.

That compares with a new bathroom suite costing say £300 and new kitchen units, worktop etc for say £500. You can actually fit out a kitchen very nicely for £500 in Ikea Nexus units. Add some tiles, etc, and you are looking at around £1k all in for materials, compared to £2k for labour.

What sort of budget are you looking at? What are the kitchen and bathroom floors like?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Unless you're putting in units that the buyer will be happy with, there's no point - they're just going to budget their offer taking into account how much they'll need to pay for replacements - so you may well not get back the money you put in if you go for el cheapo

Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments :)

Im going to have a proper look at the weekend as to what needs doing/replacing etc as it's been a while since i've been there. My OH comes to my place because of the kids. We've decided to definently clear everything though rather than furnish it as it's easier and cheaper.

Thanks again to everyone who offered great advice, much appreciated :D

If you were going to dress the flat for selling it could you not temporarily move things from your home into his for the duration? that would save buying things for it?

As for the bathroom and kitchen, unless you put total tat in it, is it not possible that a new kitchen and bathroom with fancy taps and handles might suffice in the longer term rather than just until they can afford to replace it?
