Windows 7 plus email

I've just bought a new laptop for home use and it came with Windows 7 home premium on it - also bought Microsoft Office.

Anyway, just discovered that Windows 7 doesn't come with Outlook and have tried to get more info on how to get my email to work.

I currrently use a POP account (not a techie so please don't ask me to expand on this ) and have put my account details into Windows Live but it seems that my email provider does not allow access via this route.

Any ideas please as to how to get a cheap version of something like Outlook? My previous laptop has Outlook 2003 on it but I don't even know if I can find the old disks now as I've moved house twice since I bought my last one and have loads of stuff still in storage.

Please help as I'm a creature of habit and don't want to cope without Outlook.

No version of Windows has ever come with Outlook which is part of Microsoft Office and still is part of Office 2007.

Outlook Express used to come with versions of Windows but it's now been replaced by Windows Live Mail which can be downloaded from the Microsoft website and which supports all forms of email that I've come across

Bought the 2007 Home / Student version of Office today and it no longer includes Outlook - I didn't even check the box as I assumed it would be included as it was with the 2003 version.

I've tried using the Live mail but it is giving me an error message saying that my provider (virgin) does not allow access via this method.

It's for outlook express, but it's all the same settings as live mail.

personally i would not recommend using your ISPs email account, if you ever change ISPs or move to an area that does not support virgin you will loose it and all your saved info etc.

it makes far more sense to use one of the free web mail providers like hotmail, yahoo, google etc which you can take with you and access anywhere

If you have kids at school, try www.software4students.co.uk for a copy of Office that includes Outlook.

Could you return the copy you already bought?
