I have a large bottle of Citronella Essential Oil, just wonder what people add to theirs to make an effective repellant.

Many thanks

you know, i never really found citronella in any form effective
and it seems beasties of any kind just love me:(:(

to keep flies & beasties from the house, i grow rosemary in copious amounts in window boxes and where we sit outside, i am not a huge consumer of it but its very effective at repelling, catnip also repels, but as i have a cat, i feel i would just be asking for an almighty mess:D

i also grow mint & lavender which repels flying biting beasties, but not bees

marigolds are also good, but i can understand why beasties dont like them, they stink:(

of course, to me, the most obvious solution if you actually like citronella, is to grow the grasses themselves that they get citronella oil from, but i assume you have thought and dismissed that

    i jut thought
i dont know if you were asking how to repel from the garden or from yourself

orange oil diluted in water, in a sprtizer bottle keeps away flies & midges
but if you want to rid yourself of anything coming near you
Avon SSS in the GREEN bottle is awesome

i used to fish a lot
all the guys wondered why the midges never came near me
none of them wanted to lather themselves in "girlie potions"!!!
    but they soon did
here in Scotland it sells by the thousands as an excellant midgie repellant

Apparently even the SAS use it, not sure if that's true or not :D Good story though.

    but i wouldnt be surprised

i NEVER but never buy anything pre made
i make our own soaps, creams, lip balms, washing gel etc
but even i advocate this as midgie repellant:T

No its just the green sss. I have a very large fisherman who buys it from me and a lady who uses it on her horses, bless her.

    Paulofessex, yes that's the one

Thank you for the confirmation. Are you aware of how long it is likely to be on special offer price

To be honest it is usually on offer. Avon rarely charges the £5 for this :)
