Hey guys, i am finally getting a decent sized back garden, Thanks to a green corridor program in our area. and would like to put a couple or three fruit trees in so as to provide some nice blossams and some really nice fruit for eating, cooking with. I've decided on and eating apple, a cooking apple (might even go for a crab apple) possibly a pear or two. What i would like to know is if i buy a tree thats a couple of years old, how long will it be before i can harvest some decent fruit from them??

I'd love a plum, brings back memories of pickin and jamming with my mum and grandma, we used to get loads off the tree every year. I presume that they have a similar fruiting time of the five years mentioned above.A penny saved is a penny earned.

I've found fruit trees from the sheds such as focus and b&q to be pretty good. They are potted and usually a mass of bloom in the spring. No problems with pollination and most left at the end of summer have fruit on them.
I have a victoria plum - heavy cropping although can be more so every other year or so. At my last house we got a 'rescue' one from b&q reduced to about £6. Spent a couple of days in the bath before we planted him out. Fantastic tree - absolutely covered with blossom. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
