New CD/DVD drive required for laptop

I need a new CD/DVDRW drive for an Acer 3004WLMi laptop but haven't got the technie know how to know what to get. Please can anyone help?

Do you want a drive that's an upgrade from the existing one, or is this a like-for-like replacement of the current drive?

Or buy a spares and repair laptop on ebay with a working drive.

problem you got is acer doesn't list you puter on there support site, within its spec saying whether its sata connecter or ide on the drive also the only drives they do sell i could find is external, also the other problem you have i'm not sure if the drives are standard sizing arcoss lappys plus looking at my dell here getting inside would take a while the other option you may find is perhaps an ebay seller with a spare drive maybe.

You could take the existing one out, find out who made it, what model no. it is, and look for THAT on eBay.

But I'm still no clearer on whether or not you're upgrading your existing drive, or looking for a like-for-like replacement?
