I am having trouble with Kaspersky IS 2010. It sticks on a security scan, doesn't always update itself etc. The helpdesk are very slow in responding, taking nearly a week. It is a bit too technical for its own good with so many reports, you have to rectify issues yourself like in vun. scans. Awaiting reply from pc scans sent to Kas. now....

I have the option of free McAfee via o2 BB. Is it a full Suite and any good?

I've had Kaspersky for the 2nd time since Feb 2010. Paid £15 via CoOp bank link. I've had o2 BB since March.

I could ditch Kas. with or without unused period refunded or wait until expires.

mcafee is a resource hog, you'd be better off with a free alternative or kaspersky

No. See the recent AV test results at www.av-comparatives.org. McAfee was a real dog compared to many others and also gave a lot of False Positives, which is potentially very dangerous.

I had issues with KIS 2010 so have reverted back to the 2009 version. Runs fine now.

There doesnt seem to be anything 2010 does that 2009 doesn't!

    http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/kis_latest_versions

Turn on windows firewall first then download KIS2009 to your desktop or somewhere easy to find.

Then uninstall 2010 using add/remove programmes then restart.

When you uninstall there will be an option to leave behind the licence key etc, if you do it will automatically add it back in the 2009 version when you install it.

Then launch the 2009 installer from where you saved it.

I don't have auto updates turned on. Just get into the habit of every time you switch on your PC update KIS2009 manually.

PS I can get free Mcafee via BT and have steered clear. Its really heavy on resources.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the replies...........

    I'll stick with Kis 2010.

I had the same issue regarding updating with Kis 2009.

Hopefully Kas. Labs will see something in my 2 scans (Hijackthis and Getsysinfo) that is causing the problems.
