Currently with BTinternet but looking to change to a generic one so its easier when we move broadband companies
Have tried Hotmail but come up blank now as I have already added too many filters (36) so that emails coming in from certain people go into certain folders. Currently have 56 filters on btinternet.com so looking for 100 at least.
Looked at Googlemail but on checking the forums, it would appear that a LOT of people are reporting problems with email hackers and spammers
I do have a website domain that I could use I guess but I'd rather not

the best way is to buy a domain [123reg ] is among best just over £7 for 2 years ,then join google for email ,using your domain gives you about 100 redirects , examp 123456.co.uk redirects to your google email a/c , or dogg1.co.uk . you just make yor own , ie.joe@123456.co.uk goes direct to in box at joe123456@googlemail.com , as long as you own domain never any problem with email ,my own is ****@.co.uk0

If you want something that is POP3 / IMAP compliant to use with an email client such as Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express, you could look at GMX.com.
You could also look at getting your own domain and either forwarding email to your GMX account or get an instant mail option.
Google mail isn't standards compliant, so doesn't fully correctly work as it should with email clients.
The simplest way is via the likes of just having a GMX email account, plus it's free. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
