return to cap1 after old 'history' ?

Has anyone ever 'gone back' to a company they had some bad history with? I had a cap1 defaulted on maybe 9-10 years ago, eventually I settled it via a DCA I'm pretty certain. What are my chances if I go back, and is there any remote chance of getting issues? (e.g. them trying to re-add old debt - I know it's settled and barred even if not, but might have difficulty finding records that far back....)

Yes I have. I defaulted on a Capital One card 3 years ago.

I repaid the money and i successfully re-applied earlier this year. I applied for the Classic card.

I had a standard Barclaycard from 2001-2004. Never actually defaulted but according to my credit file (it is due to drop off soon thankfully!) I was up to 4 months late paying most of the time. Eventually paid it off in one go and closed the account.

I suspect they'd seen I'd had my LBM courtesy of my improved rating since then.

Didn't stop them giving me a Platinum Barclaycard last January though.

I defaulted on Cap One in 2004, and cleared the account with a partial settlement. They re-opened a new account for me in 2008.
