NEXT Directory courier returns

Hi.

I want to return something and I've arranged (through the Next website) for courier to collect on Monday. They have clearly stated that I am responsible for the item until they receive it back at Next.

Just wondered if anyone had ever had problems with this. I will obviously get the signed form from the courier but what good is this if it goes missing along the way and Next are refusing to take responsibility - even though they are the ones arranging the courier!

I think if you get the form signed by the courier and can prove that it was collected by their pre-arranged courier then it would be up to Next to find it, if it gets lost between collection and their warehouse.

I've used this service several times and I've had no problems, Next will send an email informing that your items have been returned.

Why? Next would leave themselves open to being ripped of if that was the case, it would be the customers responsibility to get the product back to the retailer and if it gets lost its at the customers loss

    Incorrect my friend.

The carrier collecting is Next's carrier.

That as it maybe but the responsibility would still lie with the customer to return the products to the retailer, the customer has the right to refuse to use Next's carrier and to use their own if they so wished

I had a faulty Xbox 360 from Next and sent it back via their courier service. My account wasn't credited for ages and it turned out that they had never received the faulty Xbox! I wrote to them with the slip that the Courier had given me upon collection and they they gave me my money back more or less straight away after that. hth.

Obviously I am wrong then, just seems wierd that they would use their own courier service and have that extra cost for things that are not faulty

All part of good customer service I guess - saves the customer having to queue at the post office.
  • The reason I queried it is because I don't see what more I can do other than get the slip signed by the courier. So for them to say it is my responsibility until they receive the parcel (for which collection is arranged by them through their website) seems a little unfair.

If I was using my own carrier method then I could understand it, but how can they not take responsibility for THEIR own couriers if I get the slip signed by their courier!

They have done - you seem to be missing it here. If you pass it to their nominated courier who provides confirmation of collection, then job done!
