Roofing Problem - opinions welcome please

Hi :)
Last year we had our apex roof felted and battened by a local roofer who came recommended by Checkatrade. Whilst doing the job he said that the flat roof on our extension needed replacing and we agreed a price and a ten year guarantee. He stripped the existing flat roof off and replaced the chipboard with bonded board, felt underlay and felt top layer. We noticed that water was laying on the roof after rainfall but was told this was ok. About a month later, during some really heavy rain the flat roof leaked into our lounge so contacted him. He acknowledged there was a problem and told us to wait till the weather got better when he would lay another layer and use rubberised bonding on top. As a goodwill gesture he said do the labout free and pay half the material costs.
Since the February we have noticed that the flat roof is sagging where the puddles form. We had another roofer look at it and he says the furrings have not been replaced, the roof is flat with puddle dips and there is no run off. Although the edge of the furrings can be seen from the loft, this builder says it is an old trick that the furrings have been cut off at the edge of the roof and not replaced.
This roofer is an expert who is a friend of a neighbour and has nothing to gain from adverse comments.
The thing is we don't trust the original roofer to redo the job and we don't see why we should have to pay half for a repair that he already admitted was wrong in the first place.
What does anyone think on this? how would you deal with it?.
