Good Wireless Graphics Tablet

Hi. I'm looking to buy a wireless graphics tablet mainly for handwriting recognition feature to assist my child with schoolwork. Hoping that this will speed up work and presentation. Wacom seems to dominate the market for this type of thing but seemingly at a cost. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. :beer:

from my knowledge I am sure they are all USB powered. If i was going to choose one I'd go for the Intous ones, they are really good, some are expensive however they are great products.0

If it's handwriting recognition you're interested in, there are a variety of devices specifically designed for this (often called "digital pens" or "e-pens") that can work without being connected to a PC, for example this one:
