Hey guys
I'm moving to Toronto in a few months for a year and would like to rent our house out. Does anyone have a recommendation for a trustworthy rental company who will do a reliable job. There appears to be a bit of difference in the prices, but I'm sure the quality of service varys widely.
Thx

Thats what you want someone who is thorough and you can trust to get you the best tenant possible. they dont just let anyone in your home.thats a first where letting agents are concerned ( in my experience anyway )0 -
Thx guys - hope their fees are reasonable. As I'm going to be out of the country its obviously more important that the tenants are quality however.
Do you know how often they inspect the property? My bro had his house rented and by the time the quarterly inspection came round it turned out the house had been wrecked way beyond the deposit amount being held - so wish to avoid this scenario at all costs!0 -
just bumping this thread, i too am looking to rent out my house - has anyone any more experience to share? I tried martin & co this morning but Gordon has been snowed in! I also spoke to remax who were very nice on the phone (and i see a lot of their signs up in the area) so I'm considering them too.
I am not sure whether to manage the property myself or not, what are your experiences? I don't really have a portfolio of tradesmen or anything...
Secondly, how do i make sure that everything is by the book? i.e. smoke alarms, fire retardent soft furnishings, gas hob etc?0 -
Have a chat with Property One on the Lisburn Road. I rented 2 houses from them and found them to be fair to both me and the Property Owner. You could also try MCW Residential on the Belmont road, the rentals agent is called Rachel and they are very thorough, but maybe dearer because of it.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Firstly - how lucky are you to be moving to Toronto - great city my OH and I would love to move there
I currently rent a house through the Rental Co and are really pleased with them. There is a quarterly inspection and they seem to be well above board.
Good luck in Toronto!!

In response to 'thetope' above posting ... I would definitely recommend that you use an agent. We had a really bad experience with renting out a property ourselves and at a distance and would not do it again. Go with the agent and their commission could be money really well spent. There is also a company called 'Homelet' (tel: 0845 117 6000 web: www.homelet.co.uk) who cover landlords for things like insurance, legal fees in the event of needing them, and other important services. Not sure if they cover NI but worth looking into.0

A number of the local rental companies in Belfast use Homelet to check out potential tenants, there's a fee charged but the tenant pays it, not the Landlord. I know MCW and Prestige use them.
Another bit of advice, avoid Pinpoint property unless you want stress. No matter how many times I rang or emailed them they never responded to my queries and also failed to turn up to a number of viewings, hopeless. Maybe they've improved with the merger with Mortons but I wouldn't hold my breath.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
Who are the best companies to rent from? I'm moving (sadly) moving back to Belfast in a few months and will need to rent until I get settled etc (ie. meet a rich woman who will be able to afford a nice big house). I've tried gumtree, but it seems mostly for students.
I just need some agency websites to see what's on offer these days in Belfast. I rented in Belfast before when I was student, but I'd like to think I could afford something nicer now...;) Although I wouldn't mind living next door to a bunch of female freshers hehe.0
