  • Take my advice " don't wear your best high heels !" Very dusty on Monday but my wife and I had a super day. We met up with many friends from up here in "Gogland" I really liked the Pabell Pink against the blue sky my photo's look really good. Only wish I had more holidays to take from work so I could spend more time down south at the Eisteddfod.

    cheers dave.

im not a high heels type of gal (ive heard the maes is covered in shale this year rather than the traditional boards - wheelchair bound friend hasnt been able to attend) but thanks for the heads up.

looking forward to buying the obligatory hoodie or crys t :j

Traffic management has been very poor with large hold ups from the M4. The gravel ground has been a source of complaint not just from wheelchair users but parents too as not only is it very dusty but it's hard work pushing the pram.

Pink tent looks fab but I won't be visiting. As a non Welsh speaker I felt very unwelcome when I visited the Margam Eisteddfod. I don't know if they would be as off hand to those with an English accent though. I thought the entrance fee was a bit steep too (about £14 per person - perhaps it's cheaper if you ask in Welsh:rolleyes: ).

Swansea council has put in place a free park and ride from Swansea Vale to try to reduce traffic. It doesn't say if the car parking is free though - I know it's about £5 for games at the Liberty Stadium.

hwyl literally means fun, but is also equivilent to the irish concept of craic - good times!

maes - means field or site (where the eisteddfod takes place)

  • Adult entrance is £10.............But I did feel sorry for people with pushchairs or wheelchairs because it did look hard going. But there were plenty of freebies etc..........So my advice is what ever language you speak, get yourself down to the Maes !
