My husband has just accidently scratched the lenses of his glasses he wears for driving really badly. Nationwide only have the emergency line open today so does anyone know if prescription glasses are covered under the home insurance?

Given that it is only a lense (or two) that need replacing are you sure it will be worth claiming even if it is covered give you will have an excess to pay, lose your no claims discount and get the premium loaded for up to the next 5 yearsAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Two lenses and because he has wonky eyes it's two different prescriptions for each lens. Also tinted. Might give the opticians a ring as well to see if they can give a quote. Frame also looks quite damaged.0

They should be covered under any household insurance AS LONG AS you have accidental damage cover, which a lot of people don't.
I have claimed under my household insurance for broken glasses, and it was worth it for me because the no claims discount is fairly trivial.0 -
We took out Home Plan Plus which includes the accidental damage cover.0
