The lender won't even know that the borrower may be planning to retire at 55. People do actually change jobs now and again you know? The job he is doing when the time comes might not force him to retire at 55 anyway.
Do lenders even ask you when you plan to retire? I know mine didn't and I'd presume others don't either.
The document in your link mentions nothing about mortgages not running past age 55.
Either way Vigilant22, no need to be so rude - again0 -

Lenders don't always ask you that question, I was never asked that question when I got my mortgage.
Be nice to all MoneySavers (or you'll be banned again and have to come back with another alias).0 -

OP, as long as there is a clear way to pay off the lump sum at the end, most lenders will be ok. I am guessing here, but if your DH is in the Forces or any such job that has an age 55 retirement age still (I can think of 3 or so others), get a pension and lump sum forecast to take with you to the appointment to show that you could meet the remaining mortgage when he reaches 55. They will ask about retirement age. Obviously, if in the Forces or the other 3, this is set in stone, so no worries. I know that AFP 75 is no offered to folk after Apr 05.Keep it simple and you will find the middle way.0
