Approx 2 yrs ago my gallbladder gave up on me & needed to be removed. Ever since I have put on a major amount of weight & am now struggling to loose it.
Anyone else experienced weight gain after gall bladder removal, also has anyone succeeded in loosing the weight?

I too gained weight after, and no, i can't lose it again, i'm heavier now than ever and I almost wish i'd left the gallbladder in, even with the pain, it would have been marginally better than being stuck at a size 22 and looking pregnant.0

Hi Jenhug

Im supposed to be having mine out on Wednesday but just found out I have other problems that need more urgent attention and as the gallbladder problem isnt life threatening just yet then it may have to stay put

i had mine out but didnt find i gained - well i did initially but then i had lost 2stone and looked awful so i needed to
it could be an age thing too if u are in your 40's maybe menopausal? or did your eating habits change once u could eat more freely again? anyway i lowcarb and wondered if you had tried that to shift the weightWhen you know better you do better0 -
Thanks for the replies.
No, my eating habits haven't changed. I'm also a veggie, so have a fairly healthy diet. I've never been able to eat creamy foods, they knock me sick and give me an acidy stomach, so I avoid those kinds of foods anyway.
I've gone from a size 14 to size 18-20 & I just can't get the weight off. I need to get it off tho' as I feel so uncomfortable.0 -
sorry to hear that its difficult isnt it.. maybe u could try cutting back on wheat in case thats now a problem for u? cant be dairy if u dont eat much of that
hope u find something that worksWhen you know better you do better0 -

I'm 32 and had the op 8 years ago! LOL! :rotfl: Not quite menopausal yet I don't think!
I also have fibromyalgia and take several diff meds and some of them can cause weight gain, but it just won't shift.0 -
