>It was a GLOBAL catastrophe....not just a UK one.<
Where does one start to refute the PR spin and made-up statistics from Labour?
Just for starters, Clown's creation of 1997, the FSA, was hopeless in overseeing banking as the Northern Crock went out of control. Second, Clown's borrowing and spending has been out of control since 2003, leaving Britain crushed by debt obligations and borrowing to pay interest on the borrowing. Thirdly, he's presided over a 25% collapse in the value of the £ against the US$; funny that, when he claims it all started in America!0 -
It is only the very stupid and/or the very Tory that can blame GB for the economy over the last 18months.
It was a GLOBAL catastrophe....not just a UK one.
This is what I mean by there being many people who still believe in Gordon Brown after the deceit of the last 13 years. It is quite extraordinary that you would think that everyone else is stupid! Who said you can't brainwash the British people? Well obviously you can. :eek:0 -

the big difference though is that those from a well off background on the labour front benches are not proposes tax cuts to line their own pockets at the expense of the vast majority of the less well of members of the population.
No, they get rich by dishonest expense claims. At the expense of the vast majority of the less well of members of the population.
David Chaytor / Cheater anyone?0 -

I know what Cameron stands for. He stands for ensuring that the wealthiest section of society stays that way. He has nothing to offer people on less than £100k a year. And on issues other than the economy he is very weak - what clout and experience does he have? How can he represent Britain internationally? He simply doesn't have the right experience to do this. At least Brown, for all his faults, does have a lot of experience and he is a safe pair of hands in a crisis - but is Cameron? Would you trust him to have his hand on the nuclear button?
That just reads like the "Osborne is weak" phrase that the tribalists keep using.Happy chappy0 -

Talking about lining pockets, how is Tony Blair doing?
Did expenses scandals only affect Tory politicians then?
Who was offering "taxi rank" deals last week?
Which Lords said that they could be "very useful" if offered enough money?the difference is that under labour the nhs has made massive improvements whilst under the tories it was crippled.Happy chappy0 -
The only card Brown has got to play is the class war .... it's sound bite politics. It's smoke and mirrors. Class war is history .... it's dead ...... if there's any war, it's the political elite who are so far removed from real life, voter's are completely alienated and disenfranchised. There's a wealth- war, a huge divide between the have's and have-not's. Nothing to do with class.
Yes, it's rather sad when the only message is "don't vote for them, they're toffs.".
I particularly liked the "people like you shouldn't be allowed to vote" in one of the earlier posts.Happy chappy0 -

Ross Kemp is a good friend and donor to the Labour party. He was married to Rebekah Wade when she was editor of the News of the World (in its pro-Labour days) - this from the Independent in 2005 might be informative as what sort of political player he is:The actor who became a huge star as tough Grant Mitchell more than a decade ago has canvassed for the party on the streets. The pair met at a golf tournament in 1995. They were married in Las Vegas in 2002. The reception party in London was attended by 400 people including Mr Brown, Mr Blunkett and the late Mo Mowlam. When Mr Kemp celebrated his 40th birthday last year, the guest list included the Prime Minister's wife Cherie Blair, the former director-general of the BBC Greg Dyke and the former commissioner of the Metropolitan police Lord Stevens. Not bad for an Essex-born actor who plays a thuggish Cockney car mechanic.
Mr Kemp's biggest pal in Labour circles is the former spin-doctor Alastair Campbell, who followed his departure from Downing Street with a one-man show at the Royal Festival Hall which was chaired by his friend the professional actor. The boys even celebrated Boxing Day together one year, with their partners Ms Wade and Fiona Millar, a former aide to Mrs Blair. But lately a degree of political pragmatism appears to have crept in: the Kemps are said to have dined recently with the Tory leadership frontrunner David Cameron and his right-hand man, George Osborne.
He was also extremely rude to me when I met him.0
