Hello all
,
It's a bit of a wild stab in the dark but does anyone know anyone reliable in the Conwy/Colwyn Bay area that may be looking to earn some extra cash by doing oddjobs for people? Someone retired or semi-retired who is still able bodied, likes DIY and likes to keep busy would be ideal.
My disabled Old Dear lives there and she's been let down by her current oddjob man. Social services are no good as it's all about risk assessment and they won't even clean windows for example. Money is no issue but it needs to be someone who is ultra-reliable and dependable, and trustworthy of course.
Anyone have any ideas please? Really stuck here as my distance away and work sched makes it impossible to be there regularly and she's too stubborn to move and likes her independence, but she can't go on like this.
Thanks all.

Many local Age Concerns have lists of approved workmen and handymen. Approved doesn't mean recommended, it means they are believed to be honest, reliable and competent. Don't know if there's an AC in your mum's area, but a quick google throws up one in Rhyl. Might be worth giving them a ring ?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Is there a branch of St Vincent's there? They did a few little jobs for my mum when she needed some mods like bath grab handles etc, they might be able to offer other services.0

Those are both excellent suggestions, thanks folks. I'll contact them on Monday and let you know. In the meantime keep the ideas coming please! :j0

Not local at all, but my parents got some jobs done through Age Concern, and also if there's any link to security it would be worth seeing if the local constabulary run a Bobby Van.
Does she own the home? I presume she does, otherwise you'd be looking to the landlord, but I know that the Housing Association I used to work for had a list of handy people it would pass on to tenants for those jobs which were NOT the landlord's responsibility.Signature removed for peace of mind0
