Uswitch / Countrywide weirdness

Hi, this is my first post; thought it was time to add something instead of just leeching information! I dig this forum; it caused me to spend all day yesterday in a major offensive against utility companies. So thanks to all for your wisdom. Anyway, not sure whether this should go here or the mortgage forum, you'll see why...

I got a letter from Uswitch the other day saying they have been advised to switch me to the cheapest gas and electric supplier. Now, like a good moneysaver I have of course been on the Uswitch Web site, and happen to be in the process of switching to Ebico (not via Uswitch), so I assumed it might be something gone wrong somewhere. Although it mentioned "your new home" and I have not moved house recently as far as I can tell.

I rang Uswitch with murder in mind, assuming by now that it was some scam to get me to call their 0845 number or maybe just good old-fashioned incompetence. Anyway, it transpires that they have been getting a lot of false requests from Countrywide (they who arranged my recent remortgage) to switch people over, probably some small print in the application process. They cancelled the request and all is well in the world again...

Not a very interesting post I know but it might help someone!
