Would appreciate advice on faulty freezer

I bought a small chest freezer from Currys on the 15 December 2009, and it has developed a fault whereas it isn't no longer freezing even with the boost function on.
I telephoned Currys after sales team and was told the machine is not viable for repair and that a replacement would be delivered and the old one taken away.
However, today I have a message on my answerphone stating they no longer make this model and to choose another from the website and then phone them.
The new model number of the same brand as mine is £20 more, do I have to pay the extra or can I ask for a refund as I can get one online elsewhere for the same price as I paid for mine.
I would appreciate your advice on this before I contact them. I have very little knowledge of the SOGA and I thought you would be able to help me. They could of course say to me they will price match it, but if they won't I don't know where I would stand.

Yes they can ask you to pay the difference but I'm not sure they'll argue that much given that its only £20. You can ask for a refund but bear in mind that they can give you a partial refund based on how much use you've already had.0

My goodness me, it never crossed my mind, a partial refund taking in account wear and tear. I will also be telling them I have lost £60 of frozen food since it defrosted itself, and I cannot claim it on the house insurance as my excess is £100.
I do not want to be compensated for the loss of food, these things happen, but I would like to be able to purchase another for the same price I paid for it.
Thank you for your reply,

Everyone is correct but personally I would pick a washing machine that is £100 more and try your luck (that is if they didn't tell you to choose one around that amount)Always ask ACAS0 -

Pretty sure you can claim for the food as "consequential loss"Everyone is correct but personally I would pick a washing machine that is £100 more and try your luck (that is if they didn't tell you to choose one around that amount)
Why would they want a washing machine? it would not freeze their food very well:DDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
